Experience a piece of European history with this Porto design from our new Portuguese Tiles series.

The design reproduced here comes from Porto, Portugal, where azulejos decorate the façades of old houses. Azulejos (meaning “small polished stone”) are painted, decorative glazed ceramic tiles that date back to 13th-century Portugal, where they were used inside buildings during the Gothic period.

Ornate in detail, these tiles do not just serve as decoration but represent an important part of Portuguese culture. The design on the tiles commonly related to the building’s unique history, and the individual pieces often end up forming an elaborate mosaic. Held within are stories of their country and its past.

Our Porto design invites you to dream of an exotic place, in a land full of history and traditions. The geometric patterns, the richness of details and the way the tiles play with light create a captivating visual experience. We selected the design because of its charm that reflects Portugal’s artistic heritage. With this new release, we celebrate this enduring symbol of Portuguese culture and tradition.
