Staff Pick of the Month is a regular feature where we ask a Paperblanks employee how they contribute to the team, what their favourite Paperblanks book is, and what they use their book for.

Q: What is your name and what do you do at Paperblanks HQ?

A: My name is Adina Costiuc – I work in the Graphics Department in Paperblanks’ head office in Vancouver – and I consider myself lucky to have participated in the creation of the Paperblanks journals for the last 10 years.

Q: What is your favourite Paperblanks design?

A: I have had many favourites over the years but the most recent ones include: the Lindau Gospels collection, since it’s one of the most elaborate covers that I’ve worked on; the Morris Windrush design from the William Morris collection because of the eye catching blue and gold details; and Tiger Lily from the Mucha collection (for the pastel colours and delicate work).

Q: What is your Paperblanks Journal used for?

A: I have used them for everything from recording personal thoughts, to writing shopping lists, to entertaining my kids, who LOVE to draw in them while we’re in the car!

Q: In your opinion what is the best thing about Paperblanks journals?

A: There is a higher sense of care for detail and a sacred consideration for good, eye-pleasing design.  Also, I love that our journals take inspiration from all eras and all parts of the world, so no matter where someone is from they can find one that will appeal to them.  Our now famous Foiled journal design has people from every continent thinking that the design is from their corner of the world!
