Can I tell you a secret? I never really enjoyed summer. I always saw it as a reminder that the sun would eventually disappear, making way for cold weather and dark nights just around the corner.

But recently, I’ve found a new appreciation for long summer days and warm, lingering nights. There’s something special about the contrast between the quick, fun-filled mornings, and the slow, reflective evenings.

Summer gives us the chance to pause and take in the little things, where we find time to look back on what we’ve been up to, process our feelings, and simply be present. With the sun shining and the days stretching on, it’s the perfect time to pick up your journal and check in with yourself.

I always think about how lovely it is, come December, to look back on the season that slipped by so quickly. You blink, and suddenly it’s September again! Whether that means going back to school or mourning the end of sunny holidays, capturing your summer memories on paper can be a powerful way to spark creativity and empower individuality, even in the small mundane things – like the scent that defines your summer, the song you can’t stop playing, or the book you got completely lost in.

So, if you’re ready to start (or continue) your summer journalling journey, here are a few prompts to get you going:

Describe your perfect summer day.

What does summer feel like to you?

What do you hope to remember about this summer?

Write down three things you want to experience this summer.

What are you grateful for this season?

Describe your perfect summer picnic.

Create your ultimate summer bucket list.

What’s your summer song, and why do you associate it with this season?

Create your ideal summer books-to-read list.

Write a letter to yourself to read at the end of summer.

This summer, I’m embracing every moment and capturing it in my Paperblanks journal, and I hope you are too. It’s the perfect time to reflect, especially with our summer sale on Paperblanks journals, which make a beautiful companion for your mindfulness retreat on these warm summer days.
