Jules Gabriel Verne (1828–1905) is the author of some of the world’s most famous books, including Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Around the World in Eighty Days. He has the rare distinction of being the second most translated author in history, right between William Shakespeare and Agatha Christie.

Our new Jules Verne Embellished Manuscript designs pay tribute to this godfather of science fiction by reproducing two of his most celebrated works: Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Around the World in Eighty Days. Both original manuscripts can be found in the historic collection of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. The back cover imagery comes from copies of the original books which can be found in the British Library’s archives.
