If you have walked past a shop sign and cringed at an unnecessary apostrophe, you’re not alone. But have you ever wished you could take things one step further and actually correct the punctuation problem? Meet the “Grammar Vigilante” of Bristol, England, a language-loving man who has been fixing signs under the cover of night for the past thirteen years.

Watch the BBC video or listen to the Vigilante’s full radio interview here.

Infamously known as the “Banksy of Punctuation,” the Grammar Vigilante takes stickers (not paint) to offending signs in order to clean up the punctuation of his city. Is it vandalism or an act of public service? According to the vigilante himself, it’s a greater crime to have the signs wrong in the first place.
