Our Peek Inside… series takes a look inside people’s journals to celebrate their imagination and inspire others. Please send us an email if you have a project that you would like to be featured! This week we’re talking with Connie about her recipe books.

For a long time I’ve been absolutely in love with Paperblanks books, but I didn’t know what I would write in the books that would live up to the gorgeous covers and wonderful quality of the books. I’ve also been planning to cook more, but have never found the time. Then I decided to combine the two by buying a book to use for recipes!

When I saw the Shimmering Delights covers I realised they were PERFECT to store dessert recipes. I bought the Buttercream in Slim format. This format turned out to be perfect, because the narrower pages make it really easy to list ingredients, without having to worry about large margins being left on the side. So far, all of my recipes have fit snugly onto one page, even especially long ones.

How I use this book is I only record recipes once I’ve made them. This way I not only have a book full of amazing recipes that I know will work, but when I look back I can remember the fun I had cooking that meal with my family. It’s like a cookbook and a journal in one! I also like being able to write the recipes by hand because I can simplify the steps. Often I find that cookbooks are hard to follow and lump many steps together, so this is a great way around that.

I am so glad that I purchased this book and I look forward to making many more recipes in the future. Next I would like to get more Slim journals for other recipe books, such as dinners and breads. I’ve currently got my eye on Grolier and Nocturnelle.
