After last year’s successful calligraphy event (and just in time for Mother’s Day), Paperblanks and the New York Public Library’s Readers and Writers Shop are again joining forces to offer a special calligraphy signing afternoon. If you are going to be in the New York City area, we welcome you to join us at the NYPL on Friday, May 9th (between 2pm and 5pm). Visitors are invited to buy a Paperblanks journal and have it inscribed… for FREE!
Professional calligraphers Karen Charatan, Karen Gorst and Anna Pinto are providing their artistic talent to create these beautiful inscriptions.
More about the Talented Calligraphic Artists
Karen Gorst, calligrapher and illuminator, curated NYPL’s “Three Faith Scriptorium.” Her custom illuminations, acclaimed as the best of New York in “Made in New York: Handcrafted Works by Master Artisans,” are currently showcased in the Smithsonian and Trinity Wall Street. In 2015, her work will also be featured at The Morgan Library and Museum.
Anna teaches workshops for calligraphy guilds and other arts organisations across the United States, and is a board member of New York City’s Society of Scribes. You can also find her work in the collections of Rutgers’ and Yale’s libraries as well as at the San Francisco Public Library.
For more than twenty years Karen has created and taught calligraphy. She does pen and brush lettering for small- and large-scale works. Also an abstract artist, her work has been in the group exhibitions of Art of Ink in America for over a decade.
