Feel the embrace of a magical evening with our spectacular Paperblanks Fall 2025 design, Silk Sky. Inspired by a traditional silk satin wedding canopy (chuppah) that was decorated with metallic thread on a shimmering blue background, this journal evokes the wonder of an enchanting starry night.
Dating from 1867–68 and originating in Ottoman Bulgaria, this fabric reflects the design style of this the era, with a central motif balanced by ornate details and rich colour. An interesting feature is how the background changes shades as light touches it, shifting into an array of luscious blues.
A chuppah, which symbolizes the home that a newly married couple will build together, is highlighted during the wedding ceremony when the bride and groom stand beneath it. The symbolism, as well as the centre star pattern, inspired the naming of this series, a celebration of love and the shining star in the night.

The original textile is held at the Jewish Museum in New York City. For over a century, the museum has illuminated Jewish art and culture from ancient times to present, offering intellectually engaging and educational exhibitions and programs for people of all ages and backgrounds.
We were drawn to this design based on its sweetness and the intricacy of the pattern; the details are so fine and delicate, with ornate and elegant elements.
Silk Sky is available as an ultra, midi, and mini hardcover journal, bookmark, document folder, guest book, pencil, pencil case, and washi tape set with another beautiful Fall 2025 design, Emerald Flower.
