Have you ever wondered what the people behind Paperblanks get up to every day? Did you ever look at a Paperblanks design and wonder, “Hmm, how would this look on my desk?” Well, in this new exclusive blog series, we are diving headfirst into uncovering what our staff have on their desks.
This week we are back in Vancouver, where we spoke to our Ecommerce Specialist for North America, Gustavo, more commonly known as Gus! When I asked him how long he has been at Paperblanks, he was surprised himself to realize it has already been seven years since he started with the company. Having joined in 2018, he notes that “It doesn’t feel like it – time flies I guess!”
Gus has really mastered his daily Ecommerce routine. He usually starts his days with the ecommerce team in Europe. Since he is based in Vancouver, his morning meetings are actually the afternoon meetings for our Dublin office, like two ships passing in the night!
After that he typically jumps into customer service, replying to customer enquiries about their orders and our products. Later in the day, he focuses on spreadsheets, covering sales and stock availability.

I asked Gus what Paperblanks office essentials he needs to get through a busy day of customer queries and meetings. His number one item is his Midnight Steel journal, a Paperblanks classic that never leaves his desk! He uses his journal to keep meeting notes and track tasks for the week. It is the ideal piece of stationery for work to stay organized and never lose sight of what is on the weekly or daily to-do list. Gus is the perfect example of how the right productivity tool can keep you on track!
Of course, not all his desk essentials are Paperblanks products. One constant companion is his trusty coffee mug, a must-have for any office worker. Gus admits, “I cannot live without coffee. I usually drink around four to six mugs per day.” Alongside his mug, he keeps some other prized possessions: a small collection of cherished collectibles, including Legos, Funko Pops, and even a Formula 1 Lego car proudly on display. These pieces add a touch of personality and inspiration to his work desk setup.
From essential Paperblanks stationery like his Midnight Steel journal to must-have mugs of coffee, we thank Gus for giving us a peek into his Paperblanks Daily Desk Essentials. Tune in next week to discover more desk organization ideas and the favourite work-from-home essentials of our Paperblanks team members.
