As we get ready to introduce our Fall 2014 Paperblanks® collection (seriously – check back on Tuesday for big news!), we thought today would be the ideal time to suggest some interesting journalling ideas to help inspire you to tackle that first blank page of a new book. Here are five ideas you may not have thought of for your next journal.
1) Nature Journal
From pressed leaves to sketches of sunrises, a nature journal can be a helpful way to unwind and appreciate the beauty of the world around you.
2) Reflective Journal
A reflective journal allows you to see your thought process as part of a larger picture. Even taking only twenty minutes a day to answer one tough question (e.g., “Am I happy today?”) will help provide valuable insight when looking back to find patterns in your life.
3) Bullet Journal
Bullet journalling, aka “Rapid Logging,” is a method of taking quick, concise notes. Whenever something comes up that makes you think “Hey, I should remember this,” simply jot down a quick bullet point. By sorting your points into three key categories (Tasks, Notes and Events), you’ll have an easily referenced log of all the important things that come up throughout your day. These types of journals are quickly becoming a “movement” within the note-taking community. For more information, check out the official Bullet Journal website.
4) Dream Journal
If you’re not already keeping a dream journal, you’re missing out. Whether you believe dreams provide insight into your deepest desires, or if they’re simply movies that play while you’re asleep, you’ll no doubt get a kick out of re-reading an account of a vivid dream. At the very least, it could provide inspiration for your next short story!
5) Photo Transfer Journal
When beginning a scrapbook, most people think they can either glue in a photograph or sketch out a memory. Well, the latest trend of photo transferring proves that you can have it both ways! Check out the amazing “DIY” artwork being created with blender pens over on the Free People blog, then take to Instagram or Twitter to show off the products of your imagination!
