PBS, along with Ken Burns, has been busy promoting the upcoming anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s death on April 15th. They’ve collaborated on a documentary film called The Address that showcases the annual efforts of a group of Vermont schoolchildren to memorise and recite the Gettysburg Address.
The monumental importance of this and other speeches by the former US President isn’t lost on us here at Paperblanks®. Featuring an excerpt from an 1858 speech, in which Lincoln hopes that “not bloody bullets but peaceful ballots” will resolve the national conflict over slavery, our Lincoln, Fragment of a Speech journal cover crystallises a pivotal moment in the history of Civil Rights and the character of a great man.
